They all left the conference of mayors of the Montpellier Metropolis with smiles on their faces. The elected officials welcomed Carole Delga, who came to sign the territorial contract for the period 2022-2028, on Thursday, September 14 in Saint-Georges-d’Orques. The president did not come empty-handed as the Region is providing 162 million euros to the Metropolis. This represents an increase of 52% compared to the previous contract.
Mobilité durable, transition écologique…
The Green Pact (sustainable mobility, ecological transition, economic development, and well-being) is its guiding principle. It aligns with the priorities of the Metropolis.
In a statement, the two communities highlight the supported projects: tram line 5, extension of line 1, and doubling of line 3. They also mention the plans for de-paving and greening schoolyards, the construction of a new gymnasium in Cournonterral, the renovation of the Neptune aquatic center in Mosson, and the Maera wastewater treatment plant project. That’s the main information. The President of the Metropolis expressed his satisfaction with the « unprecedented » visit of Carole Delga and the « strong signal » sent to « ensure the success of our region ».
Pour la présidente, la Région doit être présente aux côtés de la métropole dont « la démographie est la plus dynamique d’Occitanie avec l’impérieuse nécessité de construire un modèle de développement tourné vers la jeunesse et adapté aux changements climatiques. »
