Baiser forcé : la Ballon d’Or Alexia Putellas va témoigner devant la justice

Alexia Putellas and two other players from the Spanish national team will testify on Monday, October 2nd, in court regarding the case of former football boss Luis Rubiales forcibly kissing their teammate Jenni Hermoso.

The two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas and two other players from the Spanish national team will testify in court regarding the case of Luis Rubiales, the former head of football, forcibly kissing their teammate Jenni Hermoso. Alexia Putellas, Irene Paredes, defender for FC Barcelona and captain of the « Roja » like Putellas, and Misa Rodríguez, goalkeeper, will be heard next Monday by the investigating magistrate, according to a judicial source cited by AFP.

Luis Rubiales has been charged in this case of « sexual assault » as well as « coercion » due to these pressures. Several experts were also heard on Monday, and several members of the Spanish Federation (RFEF) are scheduled to be heard on Thursday. It is still unknown if Jennifer Hermoso will be summoned by the magistrate and when.

Luis Rubiales, who has always claimed that this kiss was consensual, was heard on September 15th and has since been prohibited by the judge from approaching the player within 200m. On August 20th, after the Spanish national team’s victory in Sydney, the head of Spanish football grabbed Jennifer Hermoso’s head with both hands and surprised her with a kiss on the mouth. This gesture caused international outrage and led to his temporary suspension by FIFA. Initially refusing to resign and denouncing « false feminism, » Luis Rubiales eventually resigned on September 10th.

Un combat mondial

On Friday, during the women’s « Roja » match against Sweden, both teams displayed a banner before their game proclaiming « Se Acabo », meaning « it’s over, our fight is a global fight », in reference to sexist behaviors.
