Before the municipal council, opponents of the town hall in Sète are demanding the reopening of public sessions.

Fifty activists demanded on Monday the return of municipal councils to the wedding hall and the abandonment of the parking project under Aristide-Briand square.

After the petition, the sit-in took place. Around fifty activists, many of whom were mobilized by the Bancs Publics collective, gathered in front of the town hall of Sète on Monday to demand that the municipal council meetings be held in the wedding hall instead of the Plantevin room. They also called for the abandonment of the parking project under Aristide-Briand square. Opposition councilor Veronique Calueba was the first to voice these demands at the start of the council meeting.

On the other hand, Mayor François Commeinhes has not changed his course of action. The mayor informed the Ensemble pour Sète group that the criticized closed-door meeting did not exist, as the council meeting was being broadcast live in the wedding hall and on the city’s website, and chairs were placed in the access hall of the Plantevin room.

There are still available spots, and the number of connections to our live video often reached around fifty visits. The truth is that this campaign is led by activists who are hostile to everything we undertake, confusing the city council with a public meeting. Their goal is simply to disrupt our city council.
