Cognac : les clubs sportifs font leur grande rentrée

A great opportunity for the many sports clubs in the area, looking for new members. At the Cognac Basket Avenir booth, there were many visitors. « To inquire, ask for information, » says Sandrine Julien, a volunteer. Can the club with 400 members last year do even better? « That’s not the goal, because we would need more supervisors. The goal is to maintain the course. If the club is in high demand, it’s because we can start playing basketball at the age of 3. We focus on motor skills, with a small foam ball and a small basket. »

At the opposite stand, it is less crowded. It should be said that ultimate frisbee is a more confidential discipline. With around forty members, the Cognac Ultimate club does not despair of attracting new practitioners, starting from the age of 12. « It is a physical and technical team sport that has the particularity of being mixed and mixing generations, » notes Sandrine Ragonnaud, player and volunteer.

At the French boxing club, training has already resumed. However, it is no longer held at the green room but at the Polignac room on Marignan Street. One of the new pieces of information to share with those curious to try « savate » (from 7 years old) is that they also offer savate fitness classes to improve cardiovascular fitness and boxing movements, as mentioned by instructor Sandrine Bruelle.

As for the USC, the club is benefiting from the Rugby World Cup. « It brings us a lot of people to the rugby school, which started again fifteen days ago with new licenses, » says its manager, Jean-Claude Sausse. Proud to have been named « the best rugby school in Charente » last year. « It proves that we work well. »
