On Monday, September 18th, the city council held its regular public session. The meeting began with informative remarks from Xavier Ballenghien, the mayor of Lectoure, who first announced that a city council member had become a father again. He also acknowledged the very high attendance of the tourist season this year: 26,000 people visited the tourist office this summer and over 13,000 walkers were counted.

The cultural events (casino concerts, Musical Nights in Armagnac, melon festival, From Blue to Blues festival, etc.) also had a very good attendance. The European Heritage Days were also well attended (3,401 visitors for 11 sites) and a meeting with the departmental curator will soon be organized to continue enhancing the municipal collections.

At the start of the school year, there were 71 students in kindergarten (75 last year) and 119 students (compared to 117) in elementary school, indicating stable numbers that are likely to increase.

Piscine, associations…

The outcome of the substitution solution for the pool shows 1,129 entries (400 residents of Lectoure requested to benefit from the free access to the Fleurance pool), a figure similar to last year, and the total cost amounts to just under 18,000 euros.

The association day was also a success despite the high temperature. The rehabilitation of the Carmel ramparts is nearing completion, and an inauguration is scheduled for Saturday, October 21st.

The construction of the football changing rooms is progressing, and the rehabilitation of the Bagatelle area has started. The road works of the intermunicipal multi-purpose union (Sivom) are in the reception phase. The study for the swimming pool is completed, a conference of funders was held in July, and the grant applications will be submitted at the end of the year. The takeover of the management of the Village des brocs is underway.
