After the usual observation round, Sireuil takes the lead with a deep pass from Perdriaud, and Benslimane places the ball close to the post to deceive Javalet. Cozes plays an excellent team game but faces a strong local defense.
After the break, the visitor Djahnine takes a shot under the bar, but the goalkeeper Daline deflects it for a corner. Cozes continues to dominate and equalizes with a pass from Guérin, unfortunately Kaba accidentally deflects the ball into his own net. The turning point of the match comes at the very end when the referee awards a penalty to the Maritimes for a not-so-obvious foul in the box. Machado confidently converts the penalty. In injury time, Cozes adds to their lead with a beautiful cross-shot from Mazeau that catches Daline off guard.

In their first steps in R2, the Arédiens were defeated 2-1 against Chauray’s reserve team. They have no reason to be ashamed of this loss against an N3 reserve team. From the beginning of the match, the Deux-Sévriens show their favorite status but are close to being trapped by Hubert, who hesitates too much to pass the ball to Gueppoid (29). Three minutes later, Lemoine-Clément dribbles on the left and crosses the ball to Gansa for the opening goal (32). Half-time score 0-1.
At the restart, the visitors aim to widen the gap and succeed with a ball over the defense that benefits Lemoine-Clement, who avoids Gauthier’s exit and increases the score (63). The home team does not give up and through continuous pushing and a good ball from Giraud, Crigent, in two attempts, reduces the score to 1-2. It will remain unchanged until the final whistle from Mr. Dos Santos, who had a good performance with his two assistants.

Avant le coup d’envoi, un hommage est rendu à Rolande Bayard, emblématique dirigeante de Leroy, disparue brutalement le 15 août. Les hommes d’Ammar Guetatfa recevaient Niort, pour leur premier match de la saison et malgré la chaleur, la première mi-temps fut d’un bon niveau. Il faut attendre le quart d’heure de jeu pour assister au premier but de Cabaud, sur un corner mal négocié des Métallos (0-1, 20e).
A la demi-heure, l’égalisation des locaux arrive sur un centre de Enzee pour Dubois (1-1, 31e). Les visiteurs reprennent directement l’avantage sur un penalty concédé par Bonneau (1-2, 31e).
En seconde période, la chaleur entraîne une perte d’intensité, les deux équipes ont beaucoup de mal à se créer de réelles occasions. Finalement, le virevoltant Dubois, prend de vitesse la défense adverse pour croiser sa frappe et obtenir une égalisation méritée (2-2, 86e).
Merpins 2 – Saint-Emilion 2
MERPINS. Mi-temps : 1-1. Arbitre. Badr Boubnan. Buts pour Merpins : Macouillard (12), Ballout (70) ; pour Saint-émilion : nc (37, 88).
Despite difficult weather conditions, a disastrous field, an opponent who played very little, and a referee who was not up to par, Merpins remained consistent in their first championship match.
Dans une première mi-temps plutôt correcte, les Merpinois rentrent parfaitement dans la rencontre avec le premier but bien construit et conclue par Hugo Macouillard (1-0, 12e). Saint-émilion sur sa première occasion vient égaliser juste avant la mi-temps.
Le rythme redescend en deuxième période, avec notamment la venue des pompiers pour Hugo Berjon. Malgré tout, les Merpinois reprennent l’avantage grâce à Quentin Ballout (2-1, 70e), avant de se faire rattraper dans les dernières minutes de jeu (2-2, 88e). Frustrant, car Saint-émilion ne s’est procuré que deux occasions dans la rencontre.

We start the match with some interesting opportunities, but we fail to convert them. There is a lot of impact and duels with well-executed game ideas from both sides. The debates are fairly balanced and we go into halftime with a tied score. The second half begins with the same intentions as the first. There are many duels, well-executed actions, and numerous opportunities that don’t find the back of the net. Even Akakpo’s superb overhead kick hits the crossbar towards the end of the match. The score remains the same. We come out a bit frustrated from this match because with a bit of luck, we could have expected something else. But it is still a good result for an away match.
