Mercus-Garrabet : l’entreprise PRAXAIR poursuit son développement

l’essentielDuring the regular meetings between presidents of intermunicipalities in Ariège, four of them were able to learn about the latest projects of the company, which has now become one of the world leaders in the manufacturing of highly pure aluminum.

Indeed, since 2021, the company has embarked on a highly ambitious development program focused on a new production line for very pure copper. This involves a vacuum fusion process that allows for the creation of incredibly small components, including those measuring 2 nanometers.
This program began with the implementation of six manufacturing cells for a production of six tons per year. The project plans for 30 cells, for a production of 45 tons per year, considering that Mercus Company’s potential is 150 cells for a possible production of 200 tons per year. Therefore, work is still ongoing within this framework.
According to the presidents, this visit was described as « very interesting and also encouraging in terms of local employment development ». It was followed by a working session between elected officials, allowing for discussions on various current topics faced by the communities of municipalities and urban areas.
