In an interview with Sud-Ouest published this Tuesday, the Angérien business leader discusses his decision to leave the world of rugby and reflects on the disastrous last season of his tenure. The season was marked by relegation to National 2, a debt of nearly 500,000 euros, and the end of the Union. He presents his own version of events. Selected excerpts.
The arrival of Jean-Charles Vicard. « At UCS, there was a need for a fresh start. With Lilian Tessandier, we went to see a suitable person; Jean-Charles Vicard. We worked together for a month. Later, we found out through the press that he was ending the Union. We had never discussed it together. I felt really betrayed. »
A la question pourquoi l’UCS n’a pas fonctionné. « Parce que les Cognaçais ne l’ont pas voulu. A Cognac on a organisé la destruction, il y a eu des mensonges. Quand on veut tuer son chien, on l’accuse d’avoir la rage. »
Les Cognaçais. « Quand on voit comment ont été traités les Angériens, je ne vais pas aller avec un bonnet d’âne là-bas. Je n’ai rien à apprendre des Cognaçais. J’ai senti du mépris de leur part. »
Concernant la mise à l’écart de Fabrice Landreau. « Je suis amer que cela se soit terminé comme ça […] Les joueurs à 80 % ne souhaitaient plus l’avoir comme entraîneur. Il m’a déçu car il m’a manqué de respect. Cela m’a blessé. »
