The Mupes starts its new season with a focus on women’s defense.

The elected officials of the Mupes (Montpellier popular ecological and social union), Alenka Doulain, Clothilde Ollier, and Flora Labourier, believe that the defense of women’s rights is a priority issue that has not been addressed by the municipal majority other than through superficial speeches. A fierce criticism directed primarily at Michaël Delafosse, accused of « pinkwashing » since the beginning of his term.

C’est sous l’angle de la défense de la condition féminine que les élues municipales de la Mupes ont effectué leur rentrée politique ce lundi. Un angle assorti d’une critique féroce de l’action de Michaël Delafosse et son équipe en la matière.

Clotilde Ollier expresses her concern about the high number of precarious jobs in the city’s services, such as nurseries, nursing homes, and schools, which primarily affect women. She questions how it is possible to file a complaint against one’s own employees. The elected official also mentions the harassment issues raised at the Grammont funeral center, highlighting the lack of action even on such matters. Former PS activist Flora Labourier draws a parallel between Michaël Delafosse’s tribute to Gisèle Halimi upon her passing and the current financial difficulties faced by the emblematic Montpellier Family Planning organization. She states that Michaël Delafosse has lost his way between his 2021 and 2023 speeches and that it is time for him to become a feminist.

The Mupes triumvirate finally criticizes the « unfulfilled promise » to offer bus users « on-demand stops after 8 pm ». According to the elected officials, this illustrates the lack of a policy to ensure women’s safety in public spaces. « We didn’t expect anything… and we are disappointed. They have not delivered, » they affirm.
