In a press release, Hervé Charles, departmental secretary of PCF65, and Alexis Bonnargent, president of ADECR 65, respond to the comments about Fabien Roussel, national secretary of PCF, at the fête de l’Humanité.
Communiqué. « Quelques jours après une Fête de l’Humanité qui fut un grand succès populaire et un formidable évènement politique pour le PCF, pour notre fédération mais aussi pour toutes les forces de gauche et sociales qui y ont participé, certains ont décidé de mener une offensive injurieuse contre Fabien Roussel, secrétaire national du PCF.
Thus, the worst being always possible, defiant leaders, including parliamentarians, spread on social media injurious and slanderous comments of extreme gravity, drawing a parallel between Fabien Roussel and the collaborator Doriot. By comparing a communist deputy to this sinister character, the entire communist family and its memory are tarnished. Never in the history of the left, despite the differences that may arise in our debates, has such an attack ever been made. We are deeply outraged and offended by it. The PCF 65, its activists and members, its elected officials, will never accept to indulge in such excesses. We have always taken our responsibilities in the face of the far right and we will continue to do so and fully play our role in serving our country and its working class. Never have we chosen insult to fuel the debate. Never will we use odious amalgamations to promote ideas.
The PCF 65 is calling on the leaders of the entire left, as well as the activists and supporters of all left-wing parties in Hautes-Pyrénées, to express their rejection of this deadly and slanderous path and to firmly disassociate themselves from these abhorrent statements. Following a joint day of the parliamentary intergroup, where the commitment to work together in the National Assembly was reaffirmed, and with regular meetings taking place between the various left-wing partners in our department, such behavior is irresponsible and inexcusable.

Nous rappelons que, comme chaque année, le PCF commémorera le 22 octobre prochain, dans la carrière des fusillés de Chateaubriant, la mémoire de ces 27 militants du PCF et de la CGT, qui tombèrent sous les balles de l’occupant nazi et du collaborationniste Doriot, à entendre s’égrener les noms de celles et ceux dont nous nous honorons qu’ils appartiennent à notre histoire commune. Fabien Roussel y représentera le PCF et prononcera un discours en leur hommage. »
