« I cannot reword »

After the allegations of « notorious links » between Karim Benzema and the Muslim Brotherhood made by Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, the leader of France Insoumise has chosen to respond and stand alongside the French footballer.

A supportive response. On Tuesday, October 17th, the Minister of Interior, Gérald Darmanin, mentioned on the Cnews channel the « well-known connections » between French footballer Karim Benzema and the Islamist group, the Muslim Brotherhood. Jean-Luc Mélenchon reacted by expressing his support on his former Twitter account, X.

« I cannot reword »

The leader of the LFI group did not fail to condemn the accusations made by Gérals Darmanin (without mentioning him) towards the Ballon d’Or 2022, explaining that the latter’s intention was to « demonize » it. « The government and its allies have chosen to demonize you. They call you « paper French, » reads his tweet.

Hello Mr. Benzema. I am not familiar with you and I know nothing about football. However, the government and its allies have chosen to demonize you. They label you as a « paper Frenchman ». With such adversaries using such words, you must be an exceptional individual…

The person from Tangier highlighted their origins and the discrimination they experienced during their youth. « As the grandson of people who were also called ‘paper French’ by the Pétainists, who revoked the citizenship of those who had been French for less than ten years, I know that France belongs to all those who choose it, » they stated.

A war story

The French player also responded to the conflict between Israel and Hamas on social media, specifically stating on his X account that he was « praying for the people of Gaza who are once again victims of these unjust bombings. »

« I cannot reword »

To support his argument, the lawyer emphasizes that the player has moved to Saudi Arabia, which is among the countries that classify the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorists.
