At mid-term, opposition member Patrick Vieu criticizes the record of Albi’s mayor, Stéphanie Guiraud-Chaumeil, and aims to represent the unity of the left and center for the 2026 municipal elections.
Pour l’anniversaire de son mouvement politique « Nous les Albigeois », qui fête sa première année d’existence cette année, l’opposant municipal Patrick Vieu s’est livré à une attaque en règle du bilan à mi-mandat de la maire d’Albi, Stéphanie Guiraud-Chaumeil.
He mocks in particular the 90-page booklet distributed to each resident of Albi, whose weaknesses he intends to point out, such as the footbridge (« not a word about a 15 million euro project »), the abandonment of a third bridge over the Tarn, the project of Nordic pools (« never announced »). He also targets the uncertainties that still surround the future of the circuit, the European center for mobility, the multimodal hub, and the municipalization of the Toulouse Lautrec museum.
« A competent mayor of the 20th century »
« Il y a un manque de clarté et de direction politique à Albi. Il est impératif de faire progresser cette ville », regrette l’ancien candidat aux élections municipales de 2020, aux côtés de Muriel Roques-Etienne.
« We are going through a major economic, ecological, and democratic crisis, and we do not know where the mayor wants to lead us. Stéphanie Guiraud-Chaumeil is a good mayor of the 20th century who has not realized that we have entered the 21st century, » continues the opponent, who wishes to achieve the union of the left and the center in the upcoming municipal elections of 2026.
À cette fin, Patrick Vieu multiplie les consultations et les ateliers thématiques avec « Nous les Albigeois », qui entend incarner « une opposition constructive ». « Le style de la maire est extrêmement clivant, les oppositions sont hystérisées. On est dans la polémique et l’invective permanente », insiste l’opposant. Son mouvement se réunit ce vendredi en assemblée générale.
