On October 12th, community officials and mayors from Bastides and Vallons du Gers were present alongside Jean-Louis Guilhaumon, the president of the intermunicipal entity, to welcome Laurent Carrié, the new prefect of Gers. This meeting provided an opportunity for meaningful and open discussions between local officials and the prefect, who emphasizes the importance of « closeness and trust » in his work.
After recalling the priorities of the State services in the department for the coming months, namely the development of space and the implementation of the law of July 20, 2023 (fight against land artificialization), the definition of acceleration zones for the development of renewable energies, support for investment in rural municipalities through optimal mobilization of the equipment endowment fund for rural territories (DETR), the local investment support fund (FSIL) or the green fund, and the implementation of the « France Ruralité » program including the « Villages d’avenir » initiative, Laurent Carrié invited the elected officials to express themselves.
Several topics have been discussed, such as the preservation of schools in rural areas, the crucial issue of water resources in an agricultural territory like Bastides et Vallons du Gers, the equally strategic development of agrivoltaics, and the reform of home care services and the valorization of the profession of home care.
