Numéros d’urgence : question au ministre

In recent months, network failures have caused temporary malfunctions of emergency numbers in the Aude department. The numbers 15, 17, and 18 became unavailable or had limited availability for a certain period of time. This issue prompted the RN deputy Julien Rancoule (3rd constituency) to address Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin.

« The European emergency number, 112, has the advantage of being accessible from all antennas, regardless of the telephone operators, giving it a much wider geographical coverage than any other number, including emergency numbers 15, 17, and 18, » says the elected official from Aude, reminding us that these three numbers represent « 70% of calls » compared to only 30% for 112. « Therefore, why don’t all emergency numbers, especially 15, 17, and 18, have access from all telephone antennas, regardless of the caller’s operator, in order to allow a greater number of people to contact emergency services when necessary? » One possible solution to avoid the difficult and inevitably distressing situation in which residents found themselves unable to reach help despite the urgency.
