However, the fullback of the French XV saw his conversion blocked by the arms of Cheslin Kolbe, the winger of the Springboks, who quickly caught up with him to reject this attempt from about 25 meters away from the posts.

If the slow-motion replays do not clearly show it, Kolbe had the right to block this ball if he started his run from his own goal and towards Ramos at the moment when the latter began his kick. Kolbe, a quick winger who played with Ramos for Stade Toulousain, was able to block this conversion before it went between the posts. A successful choice for Cheslin Kolbe as he proved decisive a few minutes later (26′).
