The baby is very young: the declaration at the sub-prefecture of Villeneuve-sur-Lot dates back to September 28th, and its publication in the Official Journal on October 3rd. Its name? « The friends of Jérôme Cahuzac ». A discreet birth, one might say, as no birth announcement has been sent.

The information has been circulating for only a few days among the followers of the fallen politician and former mayor of Villeneuve. The association is actually based at the address of Monique Gruelles, a longtime friend of Cahuzac and the former « first socialist » of Pujols. It is logical, after all. However, there have been no comments from the initial members, only that there are already « several hundred » of them.

A first assembly is planned within a fortnight, to appoint a board and a presidency, as any association should do. But this launching meeting should also welcome a distinguished guest, namely the main person concerned by this new association. A « think tank » around Jérôme Cahuzac, but for what purpose? To prepare his return to politics, 3 years before the municipal elections? Or simply to reconnect with his former voters and explain his journey since « the affair »? To find his successor? With « The friends of Jérôme Cahuzac », all hypotheses are currently being considered.
