In bout one Professor Zaretsky will provide a comprehensive overview of Camus’ life and literary career from his quelconque beginnings in French Algeria in 1913 to becoming a Nobel Prize-winning author, journalist, and penser. After a brief intermittence, bout two will foyer on a key theme in Camus’s apologue and philosophy: the ethical imperative of rebellion. About our Speaker:
Zaretsky is a frequent contributor to the New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Houston Chronicle, Le Monde, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Haaretz, Vox, and Atlantic Magazine. He is also a columnist for the Jewish Forward. He earned his bachelor’s in philosophy from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and his doctorate in history from the University of Virginia.
